Fashions change over the generations. At the turn of the last century beards were very popular; in modern times they are the exception rather than the rule.
The Beard Community was established on March 17th, 2001 to facilitate the cordial and practical discussion of beards, moustaches, handlebars, goatees, tailbacks, long beards, fu's, and every other imaginable style of beardedness. It also serves as a refuge and support site for long- and short-term cultivators of any form of beardedness.
After 25 years, The Beard Community Bulletin Board has served its purpose. When it was inaugurated, and though difficult to imagine now, factial hair was not considered mainstream in Western and other cultures. That's all changed now, as fashions and styles do often. Now we see beardedness as not only acceptable but desireable.
As my signature to posts on the BCBB, I leave with the encouragement: Grow and Show! -- and my advice to anyone wanting to get into it: let your beard grow for 90 days, no trimming; just let it go. At 90 days you'll have something to work with, be it a stache, goatee, full beard.
I want to thank all those who paricipated on the site through their comments, their sharing their photos, and engaging in conversations. I made many new friends.
