<description>The goatee is a good look for you, but 33 degrees is not hot, well it is, but not abnormally so. This last summer we had 40 degree weather for about a week straight. I shaved my beard off during that heat too, but instantly regretted it, I didn't feel that much cooler if at all, but everybody is different after all.

<description>A nice look. I visited friends today and one had put his long beard into three braids. We agreed it looked better braided, and I suggested he join the three braids together, which he did at the bottom. I may braid mine when it gets longer.

<description>Not sure what you mean there Santa...

I shaved initially due to being uncomfortable with the heat this summertime, not for my wife. However, if i had of shaved for her, would that be so wrong?

In my opinion, everyone is entitled to view their thoughts and feelings, especially those close to you. I was surprised she stopped me shaving completely so when she did, i decided to keep the goatee for myself AND her.

<description>thanks again. Tez, some seems grey and some white. in old pics my beard looks mostly black but in the sun i actually had some nice deep red. I think the red has mostly turned white and the black burned grey. I like the salt/pepper but I have almost no red left and I used to be proud I could display some of my Irish side like that. (and 'cause I LOVE red beards so much..)

not sure how long I will let it grow, but I've not let it get to long for a few years or since its been changing color so fast

thanks for the comments guys :)

<description>The &quot;Great Vast Wasteland&quot; quote was from Newton N. Minow of the FCC.
In 1961, his first speech as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (&quot;FCC&quot;), he challenged members of the National Association of Broadcasters to:

&quot;Sit down in front of your television set when your station goes on
the air and stay there without a book, magazine, newspaper,
profit-and-loss sheet or rating book to distract you--and keep your
eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you
that you will observe a vast wasteland.

Did he have a crystal ball?</description>

		<description>Mike,

MY beard awesome? That's quite a compliment considering the other ones here. I've never had a beard without a stache but have often had a stache without a beard.

<description>Thats awesome...my kids want me to grow mine so i can plait it!

I love seeing red beards, strangely they make me think of Scottish warriors...Braveheart and the such. I dont know why but for me, the two just connect???

Good luck with going terminal.

		<link>http://beardcommunity.com/forum/read.php?f=5&amp;i=90157&amp;t=90157</link>
<description>Well, here in good old blighty (England for those that didnt know) the weather has been cracking for the past week (33 degrees celcius), so much so that our health authority have issued a heatwave warning...Ha, i do laugh at this Country as we just cannot cope with any variation in the weather.

Anyway, being bearded, i did notice the heat that much more, so much so that i made a decision, took out the evil razor, and shaved my beard off!!!

As I started on my cheeks, my wife (who out of interest has never liked my facial hair when its over the 3 mm stubble look and has commented nearly everyday about it) came in to the bathroom with a look of shock!

&quot; What are you doing&quot; she screamed

&quot;Getting rid of the beard that you so clearly hate&quot; I replied, using a touch of reverse psychology, in a childish attempt to make her feel slightly guilty for all the negativity.

&quot;Well, your not shaving it all off are you, I was getting used to that&quot;. At this point I nearly cut my own throat as I choke, not believing what I just heard.

&quot;I'm sorry, what did you just say? I thought for a minute I heard you ask me NOT to shave&quot; By now I am genuinly surprised.

&quot;Dont make me beg&quot; she says &quot;keep something on there. I havent seen you clean shaven for 10 years..not sure I will be fond of that look. You suit facial hair&quot;

Well by now, i have nearly feignted!!! Every time I say im going to grow a beard (over the normal 3mm length, as most of you will know I never shave with a razor due to the pain it causes) she tells me to rid of it. This is quite surreal.

&quot;Well I've started now. Cant stop it&quot; I say

&quot; At least keep a full goatee&quot; she says.

I took her advice, kept the full goatee and I love it!!! MORE IMPORTANTLY, SHE ACTUALLY LIKES IT! I mean we really like the way it has changed my face yet kept the facial hair look. I feel that although I have cheated on the full beard, I have remained true to myself and refrained from being clean shaven.

I must say, my cheeks didnt particularly like being shaven, and were very itchy afterwards but by the next day they had settled down. The area under my chin which causes the most problems has been untouched so all in all I have had a very enjoyable experience.
I have managed to keep my face cool in this very warm weather yet still keep some hair to keep growing. Interestingly, I did give the goatee a very slight trim which it seemed to need after the great shave.

I now plan to grow out the goatee through the summer then return to the full beard for the winter. I can see me keeping this pattern going for some time.

And the best thing about it all...My wife, my biggest facial hair critic, has finally seen the benefit of facial hair. 1-0 to men who support facial hair me thinks!!!

This is it...although this is with a couple of days grwoth still!!!

		<description>Hi all,

Not sure why I've never tried to braid it yet, but yesterday I had my wife quickly put it into a braid while I ran out to run a few errands. I may have her redo it later. Tomorrow I will hit the 2 year 1 month mark. Enjoy!!

Take care all and as always, thanks for your continual support as I go for terminal length.

		<description>My mom thinks my full beard looks good but didn't like the moustache by itself.  My dad is long gone but liked having a goatee and never commented on my facial hair.  Far from the beard acting as a disguise, the last time I shaved it off a friend said he wondered &quot;Who's that in Roy's driveway?&quot;
